Interview with Donnie Fresh
What is the biggest challenge you’ve had to overcome to make it to where you are today? What are you most proud of?
The biggest challenge I had to overcome to get to where I am today was myself. I had to learn to get out of my way, be open to new ideas and methods. Once I started to open up my ways I become a better writer and storyteller. And my most proud moment was when I did my first show in Waco and the crowd knew the words to my song.
You started selling your first mixtapes when you were in high school to help financially support your family. Have you always known you wanted a career in music, and how has your musical process evolved since those days?
Yes I always have known that I wanted to be a musician. My whole life, from being little and watching cash money and master p, TI, etc I knew I wanted to tell my story. And it evolved a lot because watching them I learned how to move like an artist and make my music quality like there’s.
What is one thing you want people to take away from your music, or in other words your primary message to the world?
That it is okay to be yourself. We all go through things that change us. Don’t be afraid to tell your story.
What can your fans anticipate next from you, Donnie?
My album, more music, more video, more success.
